hi, on the engine i am building,a 51 a7,there is a small brass fitting above where the mag bolts on , i just wandered what it is for as on my other a7 engine its just plain, its on the inner timing cover and has a ball bearing in it. thanks for any info!

it could be an extra breather that has been added at some time in its life

G'day Dave.
I'd say berger has got it. On a 60+ year old bike there is likely to be more than one "modification".
A picture may help.
