Still looking for rims

Hi there
I'm still looking for a set of 19" Jones or Dunlop steel rims for my 58 Super Rocket. It is currently sporting a set of Akronts which are in good nick but don't have the look I'm after. Happy for a pair of WM2 or a combination of WM2&3 but they need to be suitable for the full width hubs that the 58 has. Don't want bent ones but chrome quality isn't such an issue.

I had that exact pair off a 1961 A10. Kept them after rebuilding the wheels for a mate, but then sadly I subsequently rebuilt them (after two-pack-ing) into a C12.  At least it was still a BSA..

Yes they are definitely obtainable new but the shipping costs to New Zealand plus the fairly substantial purchase cost make then prohibitively expensive from the Northern Hemisphere although I will go there if I have a windfall. Best would be home in NZ or possibly Australia. I can sell the Akronts to defray expenses or offer them as a swap but would rather just have a set for spare.

A good rider periodically checks all nuts and bolts with a spanner to see that they are tight - Instruction Manual for BSA B series, p46, para 2.

If you only want the rims, it does not matter whether its on conical or conventional hub, the rims are the same.

the rims are the same but the spoke holes are drilled at a different angle on the brake drum side for conicals.

The rims your after are very common, they were also fitted to full width Triumph hubs from the late 50's   up to '68 / 70' twin leader fronts, Also '68 / 70' A65's. I may be able to help if you can't find any as I have to lace a couple up soon with new rims. I'll see how good or bad the old ones are in the next few days.

Yep its all in the drilling angle! I ended up buying a pair of stainless ones. I'd have prefered chromed Jones rims for originality but these stainless ones were very good value and are the right pattern. Plus as my bikes are in regular use the rims will soon have a covering of grime that will cover any differences.
