Rear wheel setup help please
« on: 18.04. 2019 10:37 »
Hi everyone, could you help me with the rear wheel setup.
I have a main 2 part of the axle, i need a bearing for thos, Also it look like a space for a 2nd bearing in the wheel, so do i need 2 bearings (excluding sprocket) and should i have spacers inbetween them? (Photos attached) any help much appreciated. Frame number starts Ga7.900. It's a 8" cast hub (I think)

This cross section of the hub may help. One bearing in the hub and one in the sprocket.

The photo of the spindle assembly is missing the bearing retainer.

Brilliant Thank you. I knew something wasn't adding up.
So The bearing retainer is different to the metal cover over the bearing inside sprocket bearing right?

Also, the axle reduces in the middle, does the bearing sit on the larger or the reduced part?

Are you able to tell me what the frame originally was and what hub type  (now has an m20 engine in it)

Photo shows the bearing retainer in place over the bearing.

The bearing fits the larger diameter part of the spindle, pre determined by the design.

GA7 frame would have had full width iron hubs and an A7 or A10 twin engine. The single cylinder engines need a kink the the lower tube to clear the oil pump bulge.

Yes, Roy is right, LH thread.
Front wheel and rear wheel bearing retainers have different part numbers but, to my surprise in my case recently, I found that they were the same.
Also photo of sprocket dust cap in place.

Will assemble next week when bearing cover arrives. 🤞
