BSA Star Twin Kawasaki W800
« on: 19.04. 2019 02:02 »
1951 Star twin and the bike modeled on it. Kawasaki W800 reg 2017 black edition and last of the run 2500kms, bit hard to get two bikes in one photo clarity not that flash, Kawasaki is a great performer but much prefer the BSA to ride

Is that a stock seat on the A10 ? A guy I sometimes work with has one of the W800's, reckons it's alright but he just uses it as a commuter- has other things for fun
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

I've heard people say that too.
Shame we can't fast-forward fifty years and see if riders are praising the W800 then.. ;)

Well for what i's worth, I met a couple in the '70's who had one each, and their mate Wilf had one too, we used to go for Sunday arvo rides between sessions....they went ok, but my Road Rocket would out-do them in 2nd gear roll-ons  *lol*

If that photo shows us anything, it’s that the W800 is not modelled on the Star Twin.

I thought they post was about W800s of maybe five years old rather than the 1960s BSA clones?

Yes- I had a bit of a brainfart moment, thinking of the predecessor W1/2/3 series of the late '60's- early'70's.... *whistle*

If that machine, the W800, had been made as a modern BSA I would be very happy with it.

given the nice job Mahindra have made of the new Jawa, I am very optimistic I may one day be able to buy a nice new BSA...

I'm with you Tim.
I'm thinking of selling the Cafe as I can't ride her far anymore (two blown hips and a fused back). A new BSA is first on the shopping list.
