Hi DuTch
I was wondering whether the stand was sitting lower than it should, but it all looks about right, silencers are good and level and the stand appears to be retracted as far as it could go.
It’s only when manoeuvring into side roads etc, not while travelling at any speed so I can live with it I reckon.
Cheers

Hi all,
I only have a homemade side stand on the SR and usually park on my lift so not an issue for me.
However a few years ago after a long ride doing a left turn into my street there was a horrid scraping noise!
So I did a blockie to try to replicate to similar effect.
On arrival home the side stand was swinging in the breeze, leaned on my retaining wall to open the stable and walk onto the hoist.
Regularly check fasteners now.
My 'modern' heavy triumph is a breeze to raise onto it's centre stand which is great as it's impossible to push onto the hoist!

I put my bike in gear and walk it up the ramp into the shed and then onto the hoist.

Huff, pant, huff, hold chest, huff, pant. Just pushed a HD onto my hoist. Took two goes. Makes my plunger centerstand a breeze.

Just had a good look at my centre stand while it was retracted, it’s fouling on the front part of the silencer cutaways. It’s also been bodged with a piece of flattened tube welded to the bottom of the right hand foot, without it the stand would be an inch lower on the one side.
I’m going try moving the silencers a little to see if i can get it to retract further. Failing that I’ll be looking for a new stand.
I’m not 100% convinced the stand is genuine, does anyone have a picture of one they would be kind enough to share.
Thanks all you good good people

Minto. The pivot pins are prone to wear, as are the pivot eyes on the stand. The top of the stand where it meets the frame when in use also wears away,  Also a good chance you will also find a depression worn in the pivot mount/footrest frame lug. This combined wear allows the stand legs to pivot  too far forward in use, lowering the bike when on the stand so that a hernia inducing up and over lift is required to get it off the stand.

A new stand will make it a different bike.  Hang on for a cheap one if you can as some folks these days think they are made of precious metal.

Just revisited your earlier posts, I'm wondering if the bike ground clearance is also a bit low because the rear springs are a bit tired.

Swarfie you've just hit the nail on the head as to why my goldie is so difficult to get on the stand. Being short, I opted for 1" shorter rear shocks than stock. Never a thought of the centre stand......

Cheers for the link, mine looks like that but without the helpful curly bit on the end.
I’ve just seen a “new old stock” centre and side stand on eBay for 499 quid!!! Lol, bloody jokers.
Think I’ll live with it for now then think about fabricating one come winter.
Cheers

Minto... like I said, precious metal!  Keep an eye on your favourite auction site, you know now what's reasonable and what's not. The genuine stand  has the curly bit to help flipping down and allowing you to hold it on the ground with your foot as you go for the hernia lift.

Hey Swarfy
I think my curly bit might’ve been worn away by previous over enthusiastic owners.
My winter list is growing by the day, might turn into autumn/winter/spring list at this rate.
Cheers

Hate the main stand on mine, I only use it for maintenance ... and when turning left.

Me too. mine spends most of it time on the bench and only goes on for servicing.. bangs the exhausts with a jazz percussion if I ride with it on these roads..
