The lugs are worn on mine making the bike sit lower and the rear wheel sits on the floor. To stop this, I actually lift the bike onto its stand onto a plank of wood, which would suggest making it harder?? Whilst it is heavy, I find this is fine if I pull up on the rear mudguard stay whilst standing with all my weight on the 'curly bit'. I'm a bit younger than some of you guys, but still only 12.5 stone.
As for the stand creating a dent in my l/h silencer, I'm going to drill the frame lugs circular and put a suitable bolt through it, securing the nut with a bit of loctite and/or a split pin or similar. Nut will be tightened up a bit to stop the stand 'bouncing' over potholes and making me wince when the stand smacks the silencer again. Left hand cornering is horrible, and once sent me to the other side of the road. Would like another solution but my sidestand collapsed (probably from India, it was made of cheese).
