Looking for a pair of Clip ons for a BSA RGS
« on: 29.08. 2019 20:19 »
Im looking for a pair of Clip ons for a Bsa RGS Replica that I am currently building, any idea where I could buy a pair in UK would prefer a pair without the yokes welded onto the bars, but Im open to advice and options from you guys that that owned/tried and ridden bikes with these on.

any suggestions of what are the correct patent no on each clip on?

All advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Oyestein

Where has this one been hiding? Has has our Admin changed to "Caretaker"?  Have I been looking the other way or are Admin and Caretaker different functions of the same webmaster?

A bit late now but for Oyestein, but I can't be sure that BSA offered clip ons as a standard part. I reckon all contemporary clip ons would be aftermarket, and the popular exponents were Eddie Dow and John Tickle, among others. This week eBay has an Eddie Dow Catalogue on offer for as much as a pair of modern bars, plus a few used clip ons from the era. Plenty of modern types available as well.

Look forward to a bad back, aching arms and a nicely dented tank. Give me Semi Western Bars and a light throttle.

Julian can maybe  confirm if BSA offered clip ons as a factory option or accessory. Even so finding a genuine part will be a real test.

Hi All,
RGS's usually had the standard bars mounted upside down.
A problem with fitting clip on's is that the usual fork legs have a taper between top a d bottom yikes making it difficult to get the clip one secure
Autocycle offered legs suitable for clip ons the last time I was there
and would also be a likely source for the bars

It was in 'Services, Parts Suppliers, Manufacturers'. Was listed in 'Recent Posts' & 'Show unread posts since last visit' at the time, so not hidden, only posted in a board less suited for the topic subject.
Caretaker = admin, looking at house and garden, trying to take care of things that may need fixing :O)

You could specify clip ons for your RGS. See "extra fittings" lower left of the brochure page from October 1962.

G21 also confirms clip ons with a different fork.

There are several sets of clip ons listed on ebay now.
