A spanner ain't just a spanner! I have a set of those Gordon's, just like Roy's and they are very nice to use, well finished and fit nuts and bolts "just so" and never slip. GB's collection looks to contain a few open ended rings, usually used on pipework or hydraulic fittings. The tappet spanner could have come from a specialised toolkit, I'm thinking aero engine where access is limited.
