Tank knee pads and badges
« on: 04.11. 2019 10:59 »
Hi, new to this forum, I picked up a nice old BSA golden flash tank (1956 in gold but full of flaking thick tank sealer) I would like to know where I could buy knee pads and badges for this model. I had a look on ebay but found nothing there. I am happy with reproductions.
I am in the UK.
Regards

Hi Alex and congratulations for finding a petrol tank. You just need to find a frame, engine, magneto, dynamo, seat and wheels and eventually you'll be riding!   ;)

I'd also like to find a pair of tank badges for my '55 bike. Repro knee pads should be available from Draganfly or C&D Autos etc. Will you show us a picture of the tank, so we know what you have?

Thanks,
I bought it to fit another bike but it is too nice so will keep it.
Maybe someday I will find a BSA project to use it on.
I really like the style of BSA bikes, the golden flash looks great.

Alexxx  That looks like a tank to fit the earlier Plunger Frame. It should have mounting points at front and rear. The Swinging Arm frame type has a central retaining bolt into the frame top tube, just behind the filler cap, and no other fixed mounting. The bolt  hole  in the tank is concealed with a stylish rubber bung, complete with a BSA logo.

 Welcome along to the Forum.

G'day Alexxx  *welcome*
Thought we might have a nrop star with us  *smile*
Yes as Swarfy said that's an A10 Plunger tank (bigger than an A7 Plunger tank).
So you want the badge's and pads for that tank or a 1956 tank?

I was trying to be funny, I thought you must have a complete bike.

That tank is the same as the one on my 1955 plunger framed Golden Flash. Have look at this: https://youtu.be/nrOfq1O-gV8
