Layshaft and pinion
« on: 13.12. 2019 15:35 »
I need to replace the pinion (speedometer worm drive). It is fastened to the layshaft with a peg.  Will this just push out?  It looks almost riveted in that would need drilling out.  However, if i Drill badly any replacement pin will not stay in.

I have access to a press so at least it will not be a hammer job.

If my memory serves, the pin is peened over. Need to file it flush then tap it out with a pin punch.
