"Back in spring 2001 I had just finished making my Kawasaki Z1600 V8, this bike was totally hand made with a hacksaw a few files, some sand paper, a Myford ML7 model makers lathe and a small drilling machine. I rode the V8 around 3000 miles including a trip to the IOM TT. The V8 has been on display in the Barber Museum in Birmingham Alabama USA since 2003 along side my Z2300 V12, first 850 five and first SS100 v twin. I’m just editing a video showing how I made the engine for my YouTube channel 🎥"

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I fitted a Rolls Royce Merlin engine into my bicycle frame? The only tools I had were toothpicks and a Swiss Army knife.

You think it might affect the power to weight ratio? 😉

"You think it might affect the power to weight ratio?"
Not only looks rough but will certainly have a deleterious effect on the engine. Would not have expected that from such a brilliant engineer.

TT - let's just say I'd be too ashamed to show something like that. In answer to your query I've attached three pics of making my crankshaft and one of my nearly finished crankcase half.

Addendum.
Just in case anyone takes my reply to TT as some sort of competition, let me say I wouldn't dream of attempting the projects that Mr Millyard does. It is the sheer capability and excellence of his work which made me raise an eyebrow at the manifold in that picture. I couldn't believe he would actually allow something that crude on one of his creations. I thought I'd made that clear in my original post, but maybe some read it differently.

Mr Millyard appears to have very good project management ability, as well as technical skill.  Some of his ideas seem preposterous, but a rideable and presentable bike appears at the end.

Got my doubts about the inlet manifold in that last pic......

Maybe its just the camera angle but it looks like the front wheel would hit the frame under compression, but the guy is genius......  *respect*

The inlet is not flash but the approach seems to be just get a working engine not one that necessarily revs to the same range as before, or for that matter to double the horsepower.

Last night chanced on  filler programme "Big Big Bikes" on DMAX Freeview Channel 38. A very youthful A.M. was featured along with the V12 Kwaker. In comparison to some of the Stateside contenders his modesty and engineering facilities make his creations even more remarkable.

Not so good with dates in Latin, I reckon the prog was made in 2005.

That Millyard fellow certainly is top drawer. Starting making an engine from scratch is relatively easy, as one has control over all the dimensions / materials etc. But in effectively joining two together, one is severely constrained. How do you weld two halves together with zero distortion? And aren't there areas that should be joined but which are inaccessible to welding? What about trying to fit two conrods on a journal designed for one - or does one adopt the principle used on radial engines (ie a master and slave rod). And what about the gear train - which will now be subjected to around twice the power? Will it stand up, will the gearbox stay together or attempt to represent a Mills bomb????
Rather him than me. And, as TT remarks, when completed his work looks as if it were factory produced.

It's a ludicrous bike but I cannot help but marvel at it.
