Well as an exercise for metalwork engineers it would be an interesting project .
As a motorcycle one word come to mind WHY ?
Z9's were a hanfull when new and a pig at any speed other than WFO
They were a problem to keep rubber up to the rear tyre.
So why would you wan a Z 1800.
More than enough specials made from shoving a car engin into a motorcycle frame to make an unrideable motorcycle.

Because he can I guess  *respect*. A very talented man.

The man is amazing. I think my brain would get a cramp trying to figure out all of the cam pieces timing before welding them together and have the engine work!

'Just got my head and barrel parts back from RD cox & son in Reading after they removed years of grime and oxidation ready for fresh satin black 2 pack paint , but first I need to weld the parts together to create a one peice Z1 “Super Six” head and one piece barrel 😎'

Would love to know how he avoids distortion when welding cases etc together. I note he has steel bars in the camshaft bearings, but that won’t help much. You weld it all up, remove the ‘jig’ and it’ll still be like a banana. As I found out a long time ago. So pre-heat to a high temp before welding? Then how do you maintain temp whilst TIG welding, and how do you hold things in place? Can’t use steel fastenings because of differential expansion. When making double-skinned marine manifolds I used to pre-bend the material so they’d be (almost) straight after welding, but you can’t do that here. And here 'almost' straight is not an option. And a pressed-up six cyl crank? He has way more patience than I. I wouldn’t even attempt it – a pressed-up single cyl is enough for me. And then there’s the small matter of double the power transmitted through crankcases and a crankshaft that are now weaker than the original. The guy is incredible.

Todays installment:

'After a day of welding and a day of filing scraping and lapping, my six cylinder barrel and head are flat and square to each other and to the crankcases. Just torqued down the head bolts with no gaskets to check it all fits nicely with the camshaft and crank mandrels in place 😎'

'Lapping flat with valve grinding paste and an old cast iron surface plate, takes ages but works really well'

I don't think he would have time for all that fancy nonsense! My list of bodges that need proper sorting would keep him busy for a year or two. Mind the cost of tea and biscuits needs to be taken into account. I imagine he would crack under the retarded pressure and have to move. Imagine what people will say of his work in 50 years!

I've contacted him to suggest he write a book. He replied that he is working towards a book but needs help. I pleaded with him to not dumb it down; I am very interested in the details!

The latest Facebook post from Allen was a video. I've screen-grabbed it and put it in my Dropbox:
