what are you gearing for at 6500?

Oh wow, I forgot about this post.
Yep the event got canceled 4 days before our departure date.
The event is now early March 2021 and pushed forward as per the Olympics (remember the Olympics! I can’t even remember a Pub because of Victoria’s lock downs).
The bike has run well, but not started in 2 or 3 months now.
Gearing, so that some others can do this math, 22 engine, STD clutch 43, 20 gear box, STD final 42.
6500rpm and some wheel spin, the aim is 120MPH.

120 sounds promising, might be a job of tapping it out in third and seeing if it'll pull a few more in top.
And you can always squeeze a few more revs at that gearing ... see if it'll pull 6800

Thats always the bit of riding that makes you think, when your're nearing the redline in top and there's more track to go. I still recall a race where I had 7500 show for a few seconds before I shut down for a corner and was between steel and concrete barriers will always stick with me as a moment when I was extremely thankful the engine hung together.

A lot of the road test top speeds for vincents were third gear speeds.

Hoping you guys do get to come out of lockdown soon. We've got it pretty good in comparison here.

Finally get to take this bike to Lake Gairdner for next weeks Speedweek, hope it gets passed to run and then holds together down the salt.
My first time, so getting nervous.
Cheers

Had the best few days, after 2 years of trying to get this all together and 2 days of driving into outback Australia, we managed to get through tech inspection with ease, which was the first big hurdle to be even allowed to run. On Monday was mainly for rookies like me, to see if we didn't kill ourselves, we ran the bike to a very respectable 104.161 MPH for my first ever run on the salt lake, average of around 5600 RPM through the timed mile, and the bike as a whole run fantastic and felt perfect, as A10s do.
Our first real run was a bit of a shambles on the start line, but i did get it away (probably nerves and lack of experience), the plan was to run it up to 6500 RPM in each gear, which went well, 6700 RPM in 3rd, soon as i hit 4th the engine dived badly, too too lean and close to seizing.
The good thing is we learned a lot from our first ever trip to the salt, and the bike did not blow up, so we will run again next year, with anticipation and valuable knowledge.
Unfortunately my team went from 4 to just the 2 of us due to varying circumstances, so hopefully well have the full team next time.

Cheers Thomas

Very much enjoyed your mission Thomas. Very successful for a first run.  *beer* Great pictures from Lake Gairdner.
Looking forward to next years run.
I also liked the C11 next to your A10.
