rocker feed banjo leak

does anyone have any tips on stopping the oil feed banjos from leaking
i have used the ordinary fibre washers behind the banjos but always have problems with them leaking!
they have been ok for quite a few years but since removal to change a rocker box gasket they have started leaking again

What I did with my 58 A10 was grind down a flat washer to just fit in side the banjo so as to leave about a 1/16 recess in side the banjo and fitted a suitable "O" ring. That fixed the problem for me.

I think the problem with fibre washers is that they compress so you need to nip them up every so often.

I can never find an exact fit from modern fibre washers perhaps that's the problem

I am using aluminium washers given to me some years ago by a friend who worked with hydraulics you can buy various sizes on ebay quite cheaply you could get a pack of 20 for undeer £4. they are quite soft and I have never had a leak using them.

From memory you have be careful that you have the rocker shaft is positioned correctly otherwise it’s possible to have the banjo bolts seemingly tight but not actually exerting pressure on the fibre washers.

I've always used an anerobic sealant and no washers. 36 years of riding, much of it thrashing, and I've never had a leak from there (Everywhere else, yes, but not there!)

I have wondered about this. The mating faces are angled as though to seal with nothing more than sealant. I just checked the parts list. It shows washers.

Well I went to remove the rocker oil feed banjo bolts and found them both to be loose!
I know dam well that I'd fully tightened them!
I removed the banjos and found the fibre washers were firmly attached to the rocker box
Instead of removing them I fitted dowty washers on top of them
Tightened the bolts up and went for a ride
When I got back the bolts were loose again!!! I can only assume the fibre washers were settling in?
I tightened them again and that's seems to have done the trick
I have been out several times with no leaks at all

Here in the American colonies the “Dowty seals” go by the name Stat-o-seals. I use them instead of fiber washers where they will fit.

 Just to simplify ordering some.

Just replaced mine after this thread’s advice.
Sealant worked well for a time but weeded eventually.
1/4 BSP fits nicely..
Grand sum of $5 to  try to fix a persistent problem seems well worth a try.
No leak so far so fingers crossed.
Next will be replacements for banjo at oil tank feed.
