For things like shells you are better of going to either Priory or somewhere like TMS who sell decent spares not knock off rubbish.

Without re-reading this I thought you said it was a plunger yet you have a newer large journal crank by the sounds of it.

Its also well worth changing the anti wet sumping valve while you have the engine down this far. Unless of course it never wet sumped at all then I think I would leave well alone  *smile*

If you decide to buy a new sludge trap most companies seem to sell the ones that are sealed at one end nowadays so the plug blank is no so important. I dont know if I trust them so I always make sure to reuse the original personally
