Rear drum conversion

Hello everyone,
   I have recently changed my 8" front shoes to the later floating type with an improvement to their performance.  Has anyone done the same to the rear 7" drum using, say, a Triumph 37-1406 shoe or similar?  I know some will say convert it to a rod instead of keeping the spongy cable arrangement but I would like to keep the outward appearance original whilst getting better braking performance.

The fwh 7” brake ain’t that bad. I have the later type non floating cable operated setup and it really don’t take much effort to lock the wheel.
Do get the right linings/shoes though. My SA came with “modern” bonded type shoes and they where absolute rubbish. Changing them for a set of shoes with proper linings turned the brake from virtually none existent to a tyre squealer!

Search for other threads on rear brakes, most often the cable is the wrong length to the the levers at the correct angles, It makes the difference
