A65 A50 best forum?
« on: 20.09. 2020 08:09 »
My Canuck nephew has just bought a beautiful original A50 (in Washington where he lives). Can anyone recommend the best forum for the unit twins?
I've already pointed him to the britbike forum, but any other recommendations?

The BSA OC forum has quite a lot on A65/50; https://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/bsaoc_forum/index.php
Or maybe you can try to persuade E to start a forum on A65?...  *smile*

That would be a great idea!  After all they are very closely related.

As a Moderator I'd say "Don't even think of it"

^^^ Yes, a job for some other forum.

But could easily include a dedicated board for the B31\33, if no specialized forum already exists and if members here want it.

But the OP was about unit twins, not singles, (which are much less related to A7 / A10 than A50 A65).

^^^ yes, but am thinking about the general period \ style \ lucas \ amal \ frame \ smiths connection.
The 50\65 are 'modern' bikes :O)

There is an excellent forum for B50s that also serves B44s so it seems strange that there isn't an A65/50 one. What is also strange is the apparent lack of a decent workshop manual for either the A7/10 or A50/65. I heard Haynes recommended but after have an engineer set up a Fiat 500 crank with .6mm end float because the Haynes manual had a typo that should have read .006" I rather lost my respect for them. (and the engineer).

Brit Bike is probably the best place he can go.
The bulk of the people there are in the USA & ride unit twins
https://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=1&page=1
There are only so many forums  that can be sustained before the bae becomes fragmented
Right now I am on 16 motorcycle forums.
Specialist forums like the M20 ( now war bikes ) & B50 only wok if they have a moderator with endless passion & time .
They also need to have a lot of server space so loads of technical files can be stored there
Otherwise they end up being little more use than a We Chat or Face book group .

G'day Slymo.
I'll 2nd the Brit Bike Forum. Not that I go there much since I don't have an A65 anymore.
There would be a few members here that have got or had the units. This would be the place I ask first.
Cheers
