Cylinder re-lining A7
« on: 01.11. 2020 14:07 »
Hi. Looks like I will need to re-line my 1958 A7 cylinders.  Looking for advice for best place to get this done plus advice on which pistons to go for and where to get them?
Thanks.

Dunno where you are in the UK, but even from France I always send my difficult stuff to these people, in Beds:
https://vintage-engine.net/

They've resleeved cylinders for me (AMC twin engines), done standard rebores,  loads of grinds, head work (AMC, Norton and Beesa), alloy welding repairs on 'thrown-rod' crankcases, etc etc. Also dynamic crank balancing. Can source pistons etc or will bore to suit tolerances of customer-supplied.
Superb family-run full-service engine reconditioning business, in my opinion.

As to pistons, I've just fitted IMDs in my A10 - see recent posts on here for a few comments. Not sure whether they have pistons and/or liners for A7s though, as not mentioned on page where A10 bits are listed.

I've put a link to them in 'Services'

Put Derrick into the search bar and you’ll call up a few references to T & L.

Needless to say he’s the man, assuming he’s still there.

Thanks groily.
I saw the posts regarding IMD pistons and looked up there web site, unfortunately it doesn’t look like they do A7 pistons. Thanks for the reference to vintage engine. I am over in West Wales so my look for someone more local first off. Thanks again
