Locating the coil
« on: 06.01. 2021 14:40 »
I am fitting a Lucas electronic ignition system to my 1961 A10. Has anyone else done this and where is the best place for the coil. I assume under the seat behind the battery.

G'day John.
I'm definitely not a stickler for originality LOL. I like to keep that in a cool spot with the box just above it (along with the DVRII).
I have seen them mounted under the "ski slope".
Cheers

Have just fitted a Thorspark and located the twin output coil under the battery tray.  Needed two brackets but is out of the way of heat, oil and weather.  ATB

Both coils on my project (well, apart from an electric starter, it's finished now so not strictly a 'project') are on top of the mudguard, under the seat & behind the battery. Frame is swingarm A10, but seat is non-original. Whether this gives more clearance or not I'm not sure.

I had a big battery fitted for the electric start consquently, not enough room to fit between the rear mudguard and under the seat.  ATB
