This is the original BSA tool, but just a bit too bulky in use and only fits if you take the handlebar off!

You will find new ones to a different design available on ebay.

Hand tight is about all you need. Maybe a gentle nudge with waterpump pliers if a touch more is required.

You might find the side of a pressed steel type angle grinder wrench will do the job, or any suitable length of flat strip. All depends on ease of access. Tight sleeve will move if the top yoke pinchbolt is slackened off and the top yoke spread slightly with a wedge. Simple job without the top yoke in place, service tool best used to cope with in-service adjustment without the need for major dismantling.

That angle grinder wrench can also save the day on car rear disc brakes. Mine had pins just the right size apart for winding the pistons back into the calipers........

 Swarfy.

Bought this tool and used it today, 10 minute job - fantastic - quick and accurate and no need to remove the handlebars

Remove the steering damper (if you have one)
Remove the nut to reveal the adjuster sleeve nut.
Slacken the pinchbolt.
Tighten the castleated nut with the tool with the front wheel off the ground until the steering can still flop from side to side under it's own weight with no tight spots. - job done.
Tighten pinch bolt and top nut  and refit damper.
