Update on the new BSA

Well it happened today!

Janet and I arrived about 10 minutes later than expected. While the paperwork was being sorted out a horrendous hail storm happened, with thunder! The dealers yard looked like it had been spread with mothballs. After a few minutes the storm stopped. By the time I was ready to ride the 9 miles home on a brand new bike with brand new tyres, the road was slushy. I was very careful 😜
I was very happy that we had not arrived on time because I might have been riding when the storm hit.

How often do you use the hoist?
You need to extend the shed or build another one.
So the new GS needs a wash already!

The hoist got used quite a bit. I cannot get down on my knees these days, (so it's no good asking 😔)

Looking forward to reading your experiences and observations on what the new bike rides like. Good to have someone who's regularly riden an older bike making comparisons. It's a new chapter for sure and no excuses now for some proper distance work. Scotland nc500?

I have been vaguely thinking about the NC500; it looks wonderful. Even being able to think about a long distance ride illustrates why I wanted to change to a modern reliable motorcycle.

That max speed was a restricted revs of 7000rpm for A2 riders, if we knew how to derestrict it,  it revs to 10000.

To potentially reach 10k the stroke would need to be under 75mm ie a very oversquare motor.
I do hope GB has done the right thing, as this bike is not going to be a green lane plodder. Even with heavy flywheels. In fact the latter would ruin any performance. More likely to ride like my Firestorm, and that ain't happy much under 60mph......

GB the NC500 is fabulous, If you want any recommendations on where to and NOT to stay give me a PM. If you want a riding companion i would do it again, but unfortunately I would be on an unreliable 1960 A7

I do not agree with you RD. After riding the demo machine I can say that the bike is happy to potter but also goes as well as I need it to. My bike is still stiff but when it's run in I'll let you know what I think.
