S/A lifting handle
« on: 31.07. 2022 12:40 »
Looking for a lifting handle for a S/A model.
Got one from ebay but the bends and angle of mounting feet were wrong to the extent even with cutting & welding it'd be difficult to get it to fit (only vaguely looks like an original) so lost money posting that back. Lots of sellers on ebay appear to have the same item - supplied by wassel - so no point going down that route again. Tried Andrew in case he uses a different supplier, but he refuses to answer emails (sent him several) so had to scrub him off my list of BSA suppliers.
So, does anyone know where I could get a handle that actually fits?

hi RD i bought this from classic bike shop, no idea why because it won't fit my cafe racer anyway without loads of messing! so if looks right you can have it for what it cost me and a bit of postage . on the other hand if yours was from there it's no good anyway.

Thanks for that Keith. Bend looks same as those wassel ones - not sure about angle / twist of mounting feet.
Attached pic of the one on my '58 Flash. I presume it's original, but different shape from those ebay ones. Not overly particular about the bends - if only they would fit.
Maybe others could comment on the shape of their S/A handles, as presumably the bend shape / ability to fit are related?

Add - with the one I got from ebay there were problems with the bend apart from the mudguard end. At the opposite end the bend near the mounting foot was wrong, as it fouled the shock absorber. Even if I left the shock off it still wouldn't fit!

I had the same trouble, but made worst trying to mount on the right hand side, finished up using a folding footrest, secured through the top frame fixing for the oil tank. It's not perfect, but helps, and the floorboard section under the rear wheel really does make applying the stand so much easier.

These are mine, the '55 is original, the '58 is pattern.

Just put an update under 'lifting handle'. Got one from Draganfly - very similar to the one on my '58 Flash. The Wassel ones must fit an AJS or something, no chance of fitting a BSA A series.
