« on: 29.07. 2022 12:37 »
on betsy beezer beast i have a magnetic speedo that reads about 4mph high which i don't mind, i am looking for a magnetic speedo for the berger build and have seen some on evil bay. the number on betsy's speedo is SSM 5001/00B 1600  i have seen one and the number is SSM 5001/ 00A 1600.  does anyone know what these numbers mean and the difference between the A and B . if it doesn't make much difference i might see about buying it but don't want to have spend a fortune if it is totally different to mine being a B and that one an A .  also there is one that is SSM 5001/ 03B  what do these numbers mean,  *dunno*

I believe the big number is the number of turns of the drive cable per mile for a given speed. Can't help with the other numbers. Those big numbers changed to suit gear ratios - eg different crownwheel / pinion in cars.
'49 B31, '49 M21, '53 DOT, '58 Flash, '62 Flash special, '00 Firestorm, Weslake sprint bike.

SHM the one i have on the bike that reads a bit high is the SSM5001/ 00B 1600  and it runs off the gearbox, the one i might buy  *dunno* is the SSM 5001/00A 1600 also to run off the box
