Brake pedal return spring
« on: 30.08. 2022 19:50 »
1955 GF SA

I am a bit confused on whether I need a rear brake lever return spring. The bike did not have one when I got it.
The lever does return OK, just based on the spring at the rear of the rod.
The parts book shows two options and the set up I have does not show one, but the set up with the brake cross over shaft shows 42-4355

I am attaching a photo of my set up. Can anyone shed light on this for me?
Thanks

Seems there are two different springs for the SA brake pedal. My '58 GF and '62 have different ones - they're on opposite sides of the frame.

Dunno what SHM is on about - BSA part number is 42-4355 - brake pedal return spring.

Ah, I don't have a spring on the rear brake drum either. Looks like I need 42-6046. Thanks.
