I suppose BSA would make any frame type you wanted if the order was big enough, although it's odd that the AA didn't just go with a contemporary run-of-the-mill S/A frame.
Some of the odd export orders BSA made proved that BSA were happy to oblige, if the price was right.

I have an exAA engine in my M21. Usual flywheels were cast iron, but AA specified steel. I suppose that with the quantities that AA ordered in, BSA were happy to oblige from usual specs.

GB I started selling BSA bikes in 1965 ,we were bsa/tri main retail dealers so ordered direct rather than via another dealer. Much to, my surprise M"!'s were still on the form ,combination of BSA not wishing to print new forms but Brod ,my sales manager ,hinted that if you spoke to the right person you could still get one ,my reaction as a snotty 16 yr old was why would anyone want one ,I've since woken up to the fact tha theres nowt so queer as folk!!
