Nacelle
« on: 23.11. 2022 20:46 »
Pictured is the nacelle top of my 1958 Flash which is nearing completion after a protracted restoration.
My question is, is the orientation of the ammeter correct for the year? It can be seen that the face is at an angle from straight but that is how the meter fits.
I was looking at Col's Flash on rego day and his meter's face faces straight, his bike is a later model.
Did it change for 1960?

Mines a 61' and it points straight ahead.

I can't say what's right but, personally, I like it aligned with the rider's sight line. How is the switch oriented? Regardless of what I like, I think their alignment should be mirrored.

As the rider is viewing the ammeter at an odd angle I would say the one in the pic is set up as it should be.

Trev, I tend to agree with Rex - your ammeter needle lines up with your line of sight from the riders seat.

Col,

Just curious, do you disagree with my comment?

Unless you sit on the tank and turn the handlebars to the left, you can't tell if it's charging or not, so I tend to set them level. Otherwise (to my eye) they look as if they've rotated with vibration. Just my point of view.

Hi RL,
Trevor's angle is in line of sight from riders perspective, so I agree with you. Mine points straight ahead as Trevor mentioned, but I am used to it, just lean a little to the left to get a look occasionally.

The ammeter is fitted as per the cut-outs on the nacelle. I don't like it but it must be right. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same.
