Got the 'Forbidden' error at0825hrs this morning on http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php
1961 A10SR, spent a fortune at SRM
1961 A7SS, finally the right green
2011 New addition 1937 Empire Star, twin port, high pipes, most unreliable bike I have handled.
2017 finally found the liner/barrel were flexing and causing the overheating/nipping up. Early B33 barrel fitted and it's reliable at last!
2022 Gone to the dark side and bought a 1981 Honda Benly, electric leg for my old age! done 450 miles!

Yes, still happens, the useless host and their useless support incapable of finding out why their servers malfunctions, very infuriating.

Got a 403 earlier today.

To be expected...  *computer*   Bob AKA Topdad has contacted me stating he's having trouble logging on & gets the dreaded 403 FORBIDDEN message...   *sad2*
I put it down as just another one of Bob's electronic glitches..    *smile*

I'm up at my bush block at present.
My connection is a wireless router, through a wired repeater to satellite internet from my mates place about 500m away.
For some reason i can't connect to the forum direct. I have to do it via Erling's main site. (www.a7a10.net) then click on forum.
I have had the '403' a couple of times while logging onto 'a7a10.net'
It seems this issue is affecting the main site as well as the forum.
cheers

As Woz mentioned I'd been having problems ,I'd always just used the "bing" server on my works laptop no problem, suddenly I can't find the forum as Woz also mentions my dealings with anything computer is basically set to go tits up so I initially thought its me and asked Woz .However I used google and can connect without a problem (so far ) . fingers crossed!

The 403 mystery, 2 months with dozens of emails back and forth with the hosting company.
Am providing proofs and examples. As it stands they respond with lots of words and no practical action so far. Although the 403 occurences seems to diminish, it should be an absolute and stable zero\never.
But apart from this, that hosting is very good, so will for the time being postpone the hassle and headache of moving to another host.

Biut you all know the drill by now, any forbidden, just try again after a short time and it'll work.

Miracle...  *bright idea*

After "only" 2 months of plague and pressuring them to make their services behave properly. But glad to get the confirmation nothing was ever wrong with forum\website, nor was it anything of my own doing setting things up.

We have received an update from our 3rd level team and upon their investigation, it appears this issue is due tp cache response - which are giving much 403 errors.

The solution may be somewhat in the future before implemented, but at least now there is light in the tunnel.

After nearly 3 months of  *bash* hammering the hosting company to

1. understand and accept  *contract* they have a serious misconfiguration somewhere in their setup

2. then push them *rant* to provide a fix *work*

it finally seems they have come up with a remedy to the false 403 forbiddens.  *woo*

Have seen none for a good while on my part. And hoping everyone has the same experience.
If, by any malchance, anyone gets a forbidden, be sure to post here with time\date\ip info.

Thanks.

Seems like lots less 'forbiddens', but looks like the hosting company still got remains of gremlin acticity.
Will follow it up.

Update and recap. Seems everything has been working 100% reliably for a long time now.

General recommendations > if ever (hopefully not) getting some 403, denied, erronous ban or other connection problem which does not go away after a few retries:

Try again from another device not on the network \ wifi (ip address)) that resulted in a problem, and it'll surely work (f.ex use the phone's mobile internet instead of the pc wifi), then post here with some info about time, error message etc, and things will get fixed.

Also, if not able to login due to forgotten password + email address not receiving pw reminder, or  whatever problem hindering logins, use the 'Contact' button on top menu.

Thanks

I usually access the forum from my Android tablet. I don't need to login each time. When I use my PC I have to log on every time even though I've ticked the 'Stay logged on'. This is not a major PITA but if you have a solution that would be great.
