RGS on Ebay
« on: 11.10. 2009 23:49 »
G'day All,
was having a look around Ebay in U.S. & spotted
a very ugly looking A10 chopper, I've got a feeling its
a RGS frame & motor, I'm having a break from the resto
business at the moment, so I thought I'd let you guys know,
"see what you think"...."could be a bargain!"

Hi Cus, Could be a bargain if you have a spare frame, that gussett chop looks a bit sus. Also NOT RGS with a cable brake set up. RGS had small spindle swing arm with rod brake on the left side same as gold star. BUT at US $!,000 could still be a bargain even with freight to Australis.
Cheers,    Bob.

It'll be interesting to see the final price, costs about $1,500 all up to
transport to Aus. I'd be alot keener if it was a bit closer, I was a bit sus
on that neck mod. I asked the guy for frame No. but no reply.
'63 motor...is that correct for RGS? There was another guy, last week
that had 2 Gold Star motors & a RGS complete & a GS rolling chasis
for $10 grand, all the years were a bit all over the place, but some
good gear there!
How about those pipes, looks like he'd got them from the local
plumbing supplies!

there must be a lot more RGS today than where ever built
there so easy to copy there was an incident  at stafford classic
show in england there was a RGS on display in the gold star members
stand and out side there was another RGS with the same engine and frame numbers
on it it goes to show you carnt be too careful there are a lot of fakes about because
of the money they bring £14.000 for a real one  you can get all the bits to build a replica

Just a note to say that if you are going to do a good job of converting an A10 into an RGS, such that an 'expert' who knows the many differences, (some obvious and some not so), cause to be impressed, then it is not a job to take on lightly or you'll end up with it being sussed from 10 paces and it being an embarassingly poor job. Bear in mind that most converters are not trying to sell them as genuine, just enjoying the work involved and the final glorious appearance. The same applies to Gold Stars, Bonnevilles, Thruxton Velos, Vincents from spare parts etc etc. I'm not impressed by riders who tart up their A10 with an Indian Goldie tank, siamese pipes and a Goldie silencer and call it an RGS, it brings RGS's a bad name. If you're going to do it, do it properly! (Yeh, you guessed, I'm doing one)

Well, no-one bid, so I had to buy it.
The seller agreed to dismantle & crate without the frame & forks,
so that was the kicker! My wife is overjoyed, nearly had to sleep
out-side, but think I'll get away eith the couch'

The A10 virus has got me!....better than H1M1 (swine flu) virus!
Might have to talk to my wife about extending the shed,
that should be good,

Why??
There are people who rebuild their bikes in the house.
If you suggest the bedroom she will be pleased to have you in the lounge room ... perhaps.

I built most of mine in the rumpus room. She who must be obeyed has now given permission to extend the shed. Oil on carpet did the trick.

Well done Muskrat, the more motorbike stuff you have in the house the more chance there is of being allowed to increase the size of your shed.
