1929 AJS Footstarter Stop
« on: 15.03. 2023 03:45 »
Hi Everyone

I've already tried the AJS owners club forum and the Pre 1931 AJS Facebook Group, but had no response to my question.

Can anyone tell me/show me what the 'Stop for Footstarter' (part number YA2360) for a 1929 AJS M6 looks like? I need to make one and I'm trying to work out what it looks like and where it fits but unfortunately it's not illustrated in the parts manual and I can't see any obvious lugs or brackets it would fit to.

Cheers

Tim

I'm sure you've looked at this pic and many others all ways up with strong magnifying glass etc etc  . . . I can't see anything bolted on externally for the purpose on this one (which says it's unrestored etc) - but dunno what I'm looking for.
So, no help - but just to prove someone cares  . . .

I'm going to regret saying this Musky, but the Gold Flash doesn't give me much reason to tinker at the moment, and the shed looks strange without a bike on the bench.

Thanks Groily, I've peered at all the M6 pictures I can find on the net but with no joy - I need to find someone reasonably local with one that I can check out in the flesh.

Well, good luck with that, Tim. I thought it was a strangely specific question on a model and vintage quite distant from our Prime Directive. If anyone, I would have thought John was your best bet. Him not knowing narrows your chances on here quite a bit, I believe.

Hi John
Success! Someone else in the group asked a similar question last year. Another member provided a picture (below) and now I've seen that it's obvious how it works. Making it up will keep me amused in the shed for a good while.
Cheers
