1956. The Monocilindrico 125 S is the first engine that Fabio Taglioni designs for racing and marks the beginning of a long series of single-cylinder road engines.

Ducati has a long tradition of adapting engines initially conceived for racing to mass production, and the single-cylinder 125 S is in a way the first representative of this philosophy.

GB i had a 160 monza in the 70's that needed a piston , i tried to get one to no avail, i would have got one if we had the interweb back in the day. i also had two 200 engines both incomplete but i liked the engineering of these engines.

I have a '66 Monza 250 that is just lovely. Still having trouble with carburation but I will get there. Lovely motorcycles and hope to get to the '74 DM450 paint done and rebuild the '73 DM350 by this winter.

Yes, I had a 450 R/T Desmo new in the 70's. (And another one in the 10's)
Great bike, needed to be freely revved (not slogged like a Brit single) to keep the BE together.
Very nicely engineered, the castings were as good on the inside as outside.
