Age gap between you and your bike
« on: 30.10. 2009 11:34 »
Just as an amusing concept which I was musing over on the way to work this morning, I was wondering if on average BSA owners are older or younger than the bikes they ride, and if so, what the average age gap might be?

So, to get the ball rolling, I am 13 years younger than my 1960 A7 S/S.

I am 10 years OLDER than my 1961 BSA A7 SS

Come to mention it I visited the Science museum in Shanghai, after about an hour I came to realise that I was the oldest thing in there including the exhibits. Things like, the evolution of the silicon chip, radiation foil and satellite guidence systems.

funny topic!

Bike a few years older, body 50+ (starts to feel like 150 sometimes!), spirit 16. And all these unique 50's machines of all makes were on the road when I was a kid, and never ever noticed one of them, until like 35 years after, when there were no more to be seen driving around.

Sure, the guy (Simon) who's 13 years younger than his 1960 asks the question! I remember the day my dad came to me and told me the world was about to change because someone came up with these round things that you put on the bottom of your ox cart to make it move easier.

OK, to answer the question, I'm seven years older than my bike.

I have tried raising the needle all that did was make the plugs a bit darker.I have spent the day 'playing' and earlier this afternoon I went out for a road test. I have retarded the ignition to 33 degrees and quite honestly the engine feels pretty much the same. By the way the head was off about 18 months ago.

My bike was fifty last week, i, on the other hand, have another seven years to go for that privilege!
I was born in 1966, and i don`t really like bikes of that era, dunno what that says ?
