BA screws
« on: 05.11. 2009 03:14 »
Recently someone was asking where to get 5BA screws to hold tank badges on. This mob seem to have quite a good range of BA screws in steel and brass, I've used them before and can recommend their service.

Brian,

From very first hand experience with the tank badge screws you speak of, 5BA, they were infact 1/8 BSW 40TPI, not 5BA. the bolt/screw part numbers versus thread chart is wrong on that item ( on the one Olev posted ).

1/8 BSW 3.175mm 40 TPI
5BA 3.2mm

Hard to tell them apart, but luckily my local fasteners joint had both 5BA and 1/8 BSW, the 5BA thread was damaged by inserting, the 1/8BSW was not.

I believe it stands to reason that it would be 1/8BSW.

Frame bolts BSC
Engine bolts BSW
Head bolts BSF

Tank badge screws, from my experience BSW.

This thread will be stripped if you're not careful  *doh*

BTW... agree with 1/8 BSW.
