not done anything since crippling my back
You should send this to your MP, it's the sort of real world experience which should be read out in Parliament when they're telling us that investment is up, waiting lists are down, blah, blah.
Of course it's all part of deliberate underfunding of the NHS to provide an excuse for privatisation. Just look at the donations to MPs by private health companies who expect a big return for their money.

Between January 2023 and March 2025, MPs in the UK received significant financial support from individuals and companies linked to the private healthcare sector.
Total donations to MPs, over £2,700,000.

Wes Streeting as the Health Secretary, has been a prominent recipient of donations from private healthcare sources, totalling £58,000 since July 2024 alone. His overall acceptance of funds from these sources since entering Parliament in 2015 amounts to £372,000.

And dialling 999 for an ambulance can still be a trial. I called for an elderly relative who was lying on the bathroom floor bleeding and unable to get up. After a long set of questions - how much blood was there, could I stem the flow of blood, was she having a heart attack, could I stay with her, the ambulance service said an ambulance would be dispatched within 8 hours!
