We have the right to remain silent - not sure if this stretches into the court room though never having been there.

G'day all, maybe not the worst but dangerous for all but the owner. Many years ago a friend who suffered from accute RSI asked me to swap his controls over on the handlebars. LH throttle (INDIAN style) and brake, RH clutch. Did the job and all was good till I road tested. Yep, 1st corner I grabbed a big hand full of clutch, DOH ! The owner loved it and was still alive a few years ago.
Cheers

My '56 A10 came from Capetown, RSA.
It had obviously been repainted some years ago, underneath the paint I found a lot of rust and on the inside of the chainguard they even had painted over the grease and dirt in there.
The cylinder head had been overhauled with new valves and guides. They simply had ignored the condition of the bottom end that had all bearings completely worn out and a plunger cylinder and camshaft fitted (bores, pistons and cams worn as well).

On an 'I'm a poor student heap of **** bike' - seller's use of plastic wood used to 'repair' a crankcase after a rod was thrown . . .
Lasted until a dark wet night, when it fell out (of course) about 3am, followed by the oil, all of it (of course).
For the lack of a Heinz product, must have been a 'Woody'.

Don't you love the different variations on the fully restored machine..
Mine came with only 2 valve spring seats and the rings were upside down.

One of my A10's has a concave piston, running in conjuction with a flat-top piston and 2 head gaskets fitted in the engine.  I know it's a no-no repair but being away from home on holiday with a damaged piston you've got to use whatever is available to get you home.

Yeah, I know that I could have called out the Recovery Service but that would have ruined the holiday completely.  At least I got the bike going again and it was ridden home.  But rest assured....I wouldn't part with a bike that had a bodge like that done to it.

Oh BTW, I posted the full story here after the event so most of you will probably remember it.
