Thats the stop button, or kill switch. The wire from it should make its way to the cap on the end of your magneto.

If it doesnt have a green (or black) button (horn) then its a Ducon and should have 4 wires, three for the headlight and one for the stop. If it does have a green (or black) button then its a Tricon and should have 5 wires, three for the headlight, one for the stop and one for the horn.

I've wired my Tricon with four wires.

It would be best to use a multimeter to find where the wires go, usually the red is the kill, but could be the horn ?.

1 Earth (-),
2 Hi beam,
3 Horn,and,
4 Kill.

There are a number of ways it could be wired

Josh,
Where is your low beam wire?
Are you using a relay?
The red is the kill button and the other is the horn, could be green or black as Brian says.
Doesn't matter which as both contact earth.
There are versions about in which one of the buttons is used as a light flasher and doesn't contact earth.

Hi Trev, yes using a relay, do not like the idea of 60 watts travelling through those little contacts.

Also, if the switch plays up or you break a wire, you can lose your lights, with the relay it will alway default back to Low Beam.

Trev, the reason I offer an alternative is because that looks like a DUCON ( red button and flipper ) to me and it is still possible to have the kill switch or the horn on the standard chrome button on the handle bars,  I can not see the whole handle bar.

If the red is the horn button, might explain why the unit is on backwards.

Can not imagine having your kill button under your thumb is s good design.

I would suggest who ever put that unit on was not an auto sparky.

Trev,
Don't you use a relay then?
Its the first thing I do for the reasons Josh said.
and Josh, if you ever have the top of a monobloc unscrew while you are wringing its neck, you'll need plenty of road and a roll of toilet paper if you havent got a handy kill button.
Cairns good? Had the bike up the gillies yet?
cheers

No Olev, I don't use a relay.
I have 30/24W bulbs and the switch handles the current OK.
I rarely use the lights as my bikes have Historic rego and are only used for club events.

Did Coperlode a couple of weekends ago and cooked the front brake shoes.
