I answer to FTW that i cant run engine with 20 degrees diferrence...and thats his answer now
"Please return the magneto to us I will sort out the timing and refund your postage.
Appologies for any inconvenience."
But im not sending my mag back to him cause first time he did 1 month to overhaul.

So back to my mag..
when i got my mag from FTW the point gap was .012 with 0.008....so i grid the cam ring and i now have 0.012 with 0.011 but i manage to set ignition to 32,5 degrees both cylinders..
My question is do i have to make both points gap exactly the same?will this difference a problem???

Im waiting a new cam ring from Sean Hawker...this guy rebuilt my Mathless dynamo before 2 months(excelent).. i dont know why i didnt send him my mag( just a friend here told me that FTW are great)

Congrats, looks like it's sorted out! 0.012 to 0.011 should be very fine (my opinion).

And FTW reacted properly this time, very good (but no magneto should have to be sent 2x 3200 km to get half-fixed, then another 2x 3200 km to make it ready for use...)

Based on what the acronym "FTW" means in American street slang, I'm not so sure I would send anything to him either!   ("F" is followed by three letters which are CKU in some order, "TW" is The World)

Maybe that's the message?   *smiley4*

Maybe not the best name choice?

Here in Austria there is a large, nation wide estate agency called SOB Realties.
I always wondered if they could be successful in any English speaking country with a name like that...

Emilios,

This guy knows of the problem, I reckon he will fix it and fix it well.

Remember, it is quite probable that your maggie has had this split the whole time you've had the maggie/bike.

Whilst 20 degree is extreme in my opinion, I bet any unmolested maggies have more that a couple of degrees split.

By all means fix it, make it more accurate, but I feel it really is not that big a deal, if you want to make your timing super accurate, convert your bike to 12 volt and go electronic, the problem will be well and truely solved that way.

But your bike will always be a 20 odd HP, awesome looking peice of motorcycling history that can pull tattooed biker chicks at the pub, and thats what really matters  *smile* .

I dont want a bike with 100HP....
I like my plunger A10...
I know that with electronic convert bike will be super accurate timing but i prefer magneto..i prefer old bikes to work like old bikes if you know what i mean.. *smiley4*
Last year i bought a CB500 1972...i total rebuilt it..
A friend of mine told me that when CB will finish i will never want to ride A10 again..
Ok riding Honda there was not any mechanic problem...bike is great on corners on trips etc...BUT i have no feeling riding Honda..
Next month im going to rebuilt my M20 1950...
BSA for ever. *smile*

My deep rooted view as well, kept the magneto, 6v, MCR2 reg, 276 carb (but braking is the one area I'd like to see improvement without changing looks). I really hope you will get many good miles now, after all you've been through.

I had the same problem with my mag different points gap, solved mine seperating the end case from body a fraction cutting the the corner off the metal gasket and putting it in the appropiate corner to give me the offset  for  an even points gap ,done about 5000 now job done . *smile* motoloco

Just want to give a gentle heads up for Dave Lindsley. He sorted out my mag after it had been looked at by an "expert"...he did a god job, ignition wise my A7 has been trouble free for 10 yrs..
