« on: 30.03. 2010 20:19 »
Hi Team, does anyone know the spec of the steel which the A10 large journal crank was made from please ?

I need it for the company who are looking at my spline repair.

Cheers

Interesting, I hadn't thought that such detailed information was still available today.

EN 40b would be S235 carbon steel, isn't it?

If its done correctly you shouldn't be able to see any difference in a repaired crank than an original.

The machine shop should mill out the existing splines to beond the wear band, lay down a deposit of nickel chrome weld, anneal. Turn to original diameters, re machine splines to original dimensions and possibly flame harden/temper the finished end depending on the ability to machine in the hardened or annealed state.
