I asked SRM about this and, at the time, they said their forged rods were provided by MAP. I hope I've remembered this correctly.

I just phoned SRM and was told their rods were made in the UK, so definitely can't come from MAP.

Markus (I think I now have the spelling of your name correct),

My rods are definately MAP variety (there are differences), provided by one of SRM's U.S. distributors. That doesn't mean that he gave me SRM, because "gave" is the operative word. He had ruined my original-equipment rods and these were the make-good.  It's been a bit over two years, so I wonder if my recollection of the communications is askew or if SRM got their own production going in the mean time. Just curious, did you happen to ask SRM if they were ever providing the MAP rods under their own name?  In any case, sorry if I have caused any confusion or given wrong information. Perhaps I should give myself a -1 karma point?

Richard, I can give you a Karma point for spelling my name correctly if you want. Then you can give yourself the -1.  *smile*

Cheers

Thnaks for the offer, but, if humor gets points, it should actually make you laugh. I'm happy to be at "0".

It did make me laugh, Richard. I might miss some of the subtle humour (or humor) of you English-speaking gents, but most of the time I think I get it.  *smile*

No problem 'bout the spelling of my name with a "c" however, somehow looks more classical anyway, but hey, I didn't choose it the way it is.  ;)

I dropped the crank (not literally  *smile*) at the hardening shop yesterday to have it nitrided, which should be done 'til Friday. In the mean time I'm waiting for the small but yet expensive parcel from SRM to arrive with my new billet con-rods and t/side bush.  *smile*

Once this is here, I'll have the bush line-bored and then I should soon have the engine back together and ready for the road (here's hoping).  *work*

Will keep you guys updated when there's some progress to report about.

Cheers, Markus
