swing arm models oil tank drain nut

Could somebody tell me the correct size spanner/socket for removing the drain plug on the oil tank. I am thinking around 1 5/16" or 13/16 BSW / 15/16 BSF. I need to buy one as the largest socket i have is 32mm. Many thanks out there.

Yes, 1-5/16 inch; same size as the fork top nut, so get a 6-point socket so you can do those up tight.

The socket required is 3/4 Whit.
As these nuts are very thin, you may have to machine the socket back a bit to reduce the lead to get a decent engagement on the flats.
3/4 WW is about 1.300 AF so an 1 5/16 AF socket is very close.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but the subject is exactly right for my question 

I don't do a great mileage on my A10 so have only just done the second oil change since I took ownership.

All seemed to go well and I am using Morris's Golden Film SAE40 oil to save disturbing any debris in the sludge traps.

However, I would welcome advice on the drain nut which, despite tightening as much as I dare, is slowly weeping oil.

I have a copper washer on my drain nut and was expecting to be able to take it off to anneal but it seems shrunk on and I couldn't remove it without damaging it. I have nothing that size in my copper/fibre washers box!

Would loosening and re-tightening the nut possibly cure it?

If not, what possible remedies do I have please?

I put some thread sealer on the drain nut.

SRM sell clear high modulas silicon sealant which I ordered when I last brought some spares from them.
It's very similar to bathroom sealant you get from a DIY store but it's great to use on gaskets and threads.
You may well obtain it from a store local to you and it's so useful.

From memory I think it's a 27 or 28 mm diameter.

Use a "O" ring (put the gasket in the bin) and don't do it up to tight just a bit more than hand tight. no leaks all good

When I first got my bike, (last March), I had a lot of oil leaks. Including the crankcase drain. The previous owner had used fibre washers, and they did not look great.

 I only had fibre washers, so that's what got fitted. They don't leak... Where I didn't have the right size fibre washer, (hole too small), I very carefully made it bigger.

From any bearing supply shop will have a selection of "O" rings.

Having just done an oil change, I guess it's petrol tank off and lay it over to fix the leak
