swing arm models oil tank drain nut

A mate made mention of sucking the oil out of the tank which reminded me that, many moons ago, I had bought a "Pela 6000 oil extractor" for use on our Mazda Bongo. Saved scrawling around on the drive to get at the sump plug and then spilling oil all over the place.

Having dusted it off, it did a fine job of sucking every last drop of oil out of the tank - although it took a while.

I cut off the copper ring from the drain plug/filter and replaced it with a fairly chunky O ring out of my selection box, cleaned up the threads and fitted it and, Hey Presto - after refilling with oil, several hours later - no weep

I see that you have fitted an o ring on the nut. I also do this, it stopped my leak.

Use a "O" ring (put the gasket in the bin) and don't do it up to tight just a bit more than hand tight. no leaks all good

After my recent engine work, the only leak I have is from the oil tank bottom union. I cannot use 'o' rings as the engine pipes are connected to it and I would not trust an o ring to stay put.

This is not my bike but you can see it needs fibre washers.

Yes, that would work. I don't know why it's leaking, they are normally fine. I'm not quite ready to change the oil so I'm having to put up with a leak at the moment!!
