Oil leak in fork - not a good place..
« on: 08.08. 2010 17:40 »
Goodaya, mates!
Today I discovered an oil leak on one of the forklegs. I've tried to mark where it is. (If anyone has an idea of what kind of frontend it is, I would be thankful.) funny thing that there always have to be something wrong with these old bikes. I just got my rear wheel on after inspecting the bearings, when this leak appeared and one of the exhaustpipes came loose.. Gotta love it, when the sun shines and all I want is to take a  ride...

PTFE tape is the cure. BSA advocated twine and it does seem to work for some people. I have always found PTFE tape does the job reliably. Do not use thread sealants. Thread sealants will stop the leak, but future dismantling may prove to be problematic if you do.
