My RGS rebuild
« on: 22.08. 2010 04:31 »
Now have the wheels back, nicely rebuilt, the 190 hub I got from British Austria fits a treat, all painted etc, looks the business! Head is ovehauled and back on, loads of stainless nuts and bolts etc, belt primary and belt dynamo drive fitted. Bought a gearbox overhaul kit from Lyford Classics, unable to do it myself, so farmed it out to a local specialist, he phoned me yesterday to tell me that the gearbox housing has a 2 cm split in it, Oh joy!!! luckily its easily repairable, so the case is off to the welders now! The strange thing is there is no oil in it and its still leaking oil!!!at least now I know where it was coming from.
The tank is also being repaired as well, there were a couple of dents that it sustained in transit from the UK, new chrome and paint should look great.
Probably another month and shes on the road, just in time for the start of the summer, cant wait!!
For those of you that asked for photos, I have tried and tried to post some, without success, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Cheers all,  RGS man (aka Mark)

Hi Mark, lets see if we can get some pictures up.

First the images need to be jpg. and no larger than 600kb.

When you click on reply and get the post reply screen up you will see down the bottom underneath where you type the words in it says Attach with a small box with browse in it over to the right. Click on browse, a screen should appear with "choose file to upload" in the top left corner. On the left side of this screen will be a list of stuff in your computer, documents music etc. One of the things will be pictures, click on pictures and go to the pictures you want to upload. Basically from this screen you have to find the images in your computer wherever you have them. Once you have located the image click on the photo once and then click on "open" at the bottom of the screen, this will attach the photo to your post. To add more images click on the words "more attachments" to the right of the box with browse in it and repeat the procedure.

Hopefully this will work for you, good luck.

Oh Dear,
The reason for the crack in the gearbox housing is the one of the dogs from the 19 tooth 1st gear has busted off, luckily no more damage has been done, so iuts off to the welder. I managed to get a new gear from Chris WILLIAMS (Britains gold star service) 01384 253030. We alkso decided that the mainshaft is slightly bent at the clutch end, so a new mainshaft is on its way from Lyford Classics. An expensive exercise, but so glad I had the box looked at. total so far for the box is about $950 (scary). Ah well, such is life as they say!!
