Yep, 8inch half-width cast iron hub, also used for the Goldies. Great brake, works really well.

Hi All,
Agree its the 8in. BSA either from the early flash but also used on the M21's
This is a steel hub NOT CAST!
The Goldie type is cast and has 3 cooling fins on the outer of the brake drum
The Goldie one usually has the round frostplug inserts, more often than not missing
The early A65 is almost identical to the Goldie  only that the brake shoes a little wider and therefore the drum a bit deeper!  1and1/4 in. and 1and 3/8in. from memory

John,
you are absolutely right of course, it is pressed steel, not cast iron.
I wasn't aware of the differences to the Goldie brake, learnt something again, thanks. The backplate is identical though? Or are there differences as well?

Hi MG,
The brake plates are the same to the best of my knowledge, just the A65 shoes being wider
Cheers

Thanks John, I've had a look at some pictures, now I know what you meant with "frostplug inserts". Good to know.

This looks just like the front brake hub on my 1955 A10 plunger:

Same as fitted to my 1954 B33...  These steel 8" hubs are good, as far as I can see only fitted to non-sporting models like the B33 & A7 / A10 for a couple of years, ie 1954 & 1955.
Cheers,
