NOS Fork Tubes
« on: 29.11. 2010 20:23 »
Picked up a set of NOS tubes,, noticed that they are 'raw' as in unchromed. Is this the way they came ? When looking at and the covers and what not that go over some forks ,,I can see where it would be a bit pointless to chrome what will not be seen.

Earlier this year I rebuilt my forks with new tubes and bushes. On initial assembly the fork legs were very stiff (almost impossible to operate by hand pressure). Once the forks were assembled and fitted to the bike they operated normally. The fit needs to be as tight as possible while still allowing movement the bushes will soon bed in with use. My forks were transformed after the rebuild I had know idea of how bad they were until I rebuilt them. Incidentally I bought tubes with matched bushes well worth every penny.

Now spend a few $ and get them HARD CHROMED and new bushes honed to match. Will then outlast most of us on the forum.
