Brake Rod Conversion

Hi Everyone
12 months ago I posted for help with converting my Super Rocket to rod brake operation, Christopher Fenoulhet and Seamus Molone (Ronnierockets) sent me photos and advice how to complete the task.

My skills are very limited and only have access to a vice, hacksaw and a file, with help from a friend who has  a welder I managed it in the end.

The main problem was getting the right brake arm I now have good selection from Ebay when you could buy one from Dragonfly £5.70p and the pipe for the crossover shaft arm modifcation.

If any one wishes to do this conversion and like me have only the basic tools I will produce a list of items that you will require and where to get them and a guide how to do it, so there will be only one trip to the welder.

Please PM for information which I will put together over the next couple of weeks.

Hi Nick, what do you think of the rear brake now, has it been a worthwhile mod. The cable rear brake has never been up to the standard I would like on my bike so have been thinking about doing this for some time now.

Your mod looks really good,
I also have been playing around with my rear brake & I also have a selection of brake arms but at the moment I am sticking with the cable, but I do like the Idea.

I like the Z shaped operating lever - gets over the problem of alignment. May be something I try in the future although shortening the after-market cable and making sure the angles are right on my 61 Flash has improved the brake no end.

It's got be cheaper than my "Goldie style" replacement of rear wheel, hub, swing arm, brake pedal.

Hi Nicksr just read your post while looking for advise on another matter  thought you might like to know i bought the a10 i have nearley 4 years ago from Christopher Fenoulhet with the rod brake conversion he had fitted i have been most impressed with it also have found his tips very helpful on more than one occasion
