What holds the frame together ?
« on: 18.01. 2011 20:35 »
Have to find a manual for this thing,,lol

Anywho,,my 52 frame arrived today,,and seems to be ok.

Question is what bolts or pins connect the two 1/2   halves together ??

Hi Humble Pie,
Never had my frame apart but.. mines got rolled pins in; I've attached the BSA diagram which doesn't appear to show these pins?? but you may get an idea from the pic of top frame mount. *conf*

The top frame mount takes a 7/16" x 51/2" stud - 20TPI if that helps.
I think the engine mount takes 5/16" 26TPI.

Brian from Lightning Spares is very helpful at knowing what size/threads studs/bolts and set screws should be.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Got it off the net I think (long time ago)- theres always plenty available at he shows in the UK which isn't much use to you - but if you're not in a hurry then I may be able to scan it in at some point otherwise I could post a photocopy to you but not sure of the cost of mailing to the states?
There is something similar at:

http://www.vintage-motorcycle.com/index.php?language=en&site=4&pid=171&id=8627&limit=0
But its 20 euros??

Send me a PM if you' like a copy posting out.

I couldn't have built my bike without it (my bible) - so much so I can quote certain part numbers - so sad!!
Must get out more ;)

Cheers

I downloaded the pdfs from Draganfly which have most of the diagrams I need - especially as mine is something of a bitsa.

As far as I can see from the diagram, the front lower bolt is p/n 27-6275 for solo, 67-1251 for sidecar (presumably extra length).

Hi,
Not all frames had lugs attached hence the bolt variety - mine thankfully has, not sure which years they were added no doubt other more knowledgable members will? Shouldn't be too difficult to add a lug though - if you have a side stand??

Ask away - done most things on the bike except the internals at least twice, once 20+ years ago and more recently now I'm slightly more sensible ;)

Turns out top is a 5/8x5,  bottom 9/16x6 1/2,,went to the hardware store ( they have been there forever and had good 30 year old machine bolts downstairs ).  Sadly no studs,  but good bolts, so will cut the hex end off ( got em a lil longer than what I needed ) then thread that end and ta da,, proper fitting parts :D

Glad you've got it sorted - it's a long time ago since I put my bearings in although they've not been used yet!
