Cam bushing reamers

Hello All
Who makes a tool to ream the cam bushings, or are you guys using adjustable hand reamers for this?

Adjustable reamers generally are just not good enough for this task. ( although I have done it with an adjustable )
Reamers are a standard tool from dozens of makers.
Engineering supply stores , bearing shops & some high end auto stores ( not chains ).
Which ones will depend upon where you live.
They are not cheap ( neither is not reaming properly ) which is why a lot of owners take their cases out to be done.

BSA 54 Im fully aware of what reamers are. I have a few that are made for other tasks. I was looking for something more specific like thishttp://www.britcycle.com/products/222296.htm but made for a7/10s. My bridgeport is down right now.

errrrrh, that is what you are talking about.
Yes BSA did make on.
And no I have never seen one for sale.

The BSA tool for this job was a jig comprised of a plate with holes machined accurately that corresponded to the exact centres of the crank/idler/cam bushings,fitting over the crankcase dowels (part no.61-3281).It was bolted to the casings and provided a guide for the reamer (another BSA tool:61-3167) to do its job without losing the accuracy of the hole centres so as to maintain correct meshing/running clearence for the gears. Service sheet no.215 gives details .Finished bush dia is .7495"-.7485" according to BSA.I once saw one on US E-bay for sale, rare item ony likely to turn up when a dealership closes down, no idea if anyone makes aftermarket ones.Bob.

Found these http://www.maritool.com/product_info.php?products_id=4927. Looks like i will be indexing the cases on my bridgeport and using this reamer to size them. Not bad for $60

I have to say I'm not a fan of reaming cam bearings or the TS bearing.  They don't leave a very good surface finish and alignment is typically not very good.  And, as previously noted, adjustable reamers don't work in this situation due to the blind bearing on the drive side.  I have now switched to honing and am very happy with the results.  Find someone with a honing machine and get it doe right.
