Just a quick update of the work in progress. Really going for it now ! (as my credit card bill will testify) Trials tyres are fitted, Alloy guards are ordered, spare oil tank found - just need a spare petrol tank and all the original bodywork will be safely stored away. Ive even found a spare set of footrests and a gear pedal in case of any bending action resulting from any minor spill.....The bike is also about 50% lighter with the original mudguards of!!!!! I have found some Spitfire type shrouds on US Ebay, so with a bit of luck I should be going for a "Daylight Only" MOT next month.

Lightweight Yamaha....Pah! That would be just making things easy for myself and that would completely be out of character.

And the beauty of the plan is that I can take it all back to standard afterwards............................................

Sounds great but why not visit a few bike wreckers and pick up a head and tail light of an old chook chaser (trail bike). most would be light plastic or alloy and 6 volt. While your there look for a bash plate to protect the frame and cases.

Nearly there!  Just the gearing to sort and some odds and ends and I am ready for the Beamish Trial!!!!!

Looking the goods now.
Something else you could consider is removing the dynamo and run a small 12v battery at total loss for the tail/stop light with led globe. Also either short GS shrouds or gaiters to stop mud/water eating the seals.
