Plunger steering damper plate finish?
« on: 30.06. 2011 12:49 »
Finally got round to sorting out the steering damper plate on my plunger.

Question is what finish (paint, zinc, other) should the oval anchor plate and the star washer have?
The anchor plate appears to have been painted in its previous life -  would the paint not clog the friction plate on its lower surface if it goes between the anchor plate and steering head?
Or does it just rely on the friction between its top surface and steering head? Not that its going to make a huge difference I guess!

The base plate is chromed at present (how I got it).
Cheers

RR,
I think that you will find that the plates have a hard chrome finish. The star washer is cad or zinc plated.

Many thanks Trev - wasn't really contemplating on getting anything else hard chromed - plunger tubes were enough! But.... just when you think you're near the end.......

I'll have to get it priced up and see if its worth doing; however, many thanks for your reply.

Cheers
