Tacho cable

Hi guys

I have a 61 Super Rocket and was

Just wondering if anyone had a picture of where the Tacho cable actually connects to the Magneto.
I have the cable but cant work it out. On top of the mag there is a threaded hole that is plugged atm,  but the cable has the thread as though it screws around something.

Might be a bit of a stupid question but i havent dont much to do with Speedo Tacho ect

Hi Pratty,
The threaded recess in the mag is for the advance / retard mechanism.
The tacho drive is at the lower front of the inner timing cover.

ok thanks richard.

my engine had a piece of aluminium screwed down on to it and the hole inside filled with silicon.
where would i find the piece that screws onto the timing cover that the cable screws onto ?

That is the outside adaptor (alloy).
There is an internal drive adaptor required as well.
Try Lyford Classic Services.

last outside adaptor (alloy) I received, had to shorten it in order to achieve sufficient engagement between the inner cable, and the drive adaptor.

Hopefully your oil pump is a tacho drive type! And if is, hopefully the drive tang isn't broken!

hmm yep can only hope

I got a oil drive with a tang from Lightning Spares a few years ago. Dont think it cost much.
